International stress Management Association was founded in 1973 in USA as an interdisciplinary effort encompassing the fields of Education, Training, Psychology, Medicine, Industry etc. The broad purpose was to facilitate the acquisition, dissemination and application of knowledge of stress management for the benefit of Society throughout the world. Today ISMA has branches in twelve countries Australia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, The Netherlands, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
   
 
Keeping in view our priorities and specific needs, Indian branch of ISMA was founded in may, 1999 at Hyderabad, the training capital of India. The priority would be to bring awareness about the concept of stress and its management in responsible people of the community cutting across the different walks of life.
   
 
ISMA is the professional association. It exists for the spread of sound Knowledge, the maintenance of quality and resource to its members.

Providing a framework to link those who need and those who provide stress management services.
The association is working to establish stress management as a distinct profession. Its ethos encompasses all five elements of good stress management practice: attention to the body, the breath, the feelings, the mind and the spirit; and for the well-being of the society.
   
 
To establish, maintain and ensure international standards in stress management in India.
